Musician and radio host Maria Somerville makes an affecting debut for 4AD with the deep and delicate 'Projections'. Arguably best known for bringing us one of NTS' radio's most treasured shows (The Early Bird Show w/Maria Somerville), the Galway native's penchant for the ethereal and the left-of-centre shines through on the striking new single. Floating in a similar realm to the works of slow-core greats midwife and duster, there's something more whimsical at play in Somerville's work, tapping into elements of traditional Irish music, folklore and storytelling, informed by roots in the West of Ireland.
